Comunity members from Thaleni location in Mbizana are now able to get clean water, after Councillor Vukile Mhlelembana handed over the completed reticulation of the Greater Mbizana Water Supply Phase 1A, recently.
About 110 households will receive clean drinking water for the first time.
Mhlelembana explained the municipality’s commitment to ensure the fast-tracking of water provision in the shortest possible time, by combining all the human and financial resources at the disposal of the municipality to get clean water running from taps and bringing water to the people of Alfred Nzo.
“Adopting this coming year’s budget, we have committed to getting things right and getting things done meticulously. Our people deserve better and the time for dry taps or no taps at all is over,” said Mhlelembana.
He added that they were going to use the next few months and years of their term of council to carry out their constitutional mandate without fear, favour or prejudice. He said councillors and employers must do their part in serving their people or there would be harsh consequences for poor performance. Mhlelembana added that he was willing to bite the bullet in dealing with poor performance and slow delivery of services while the masses remain poor. “We have decided to act harshly on poor performance. Our immediate task is to ensure that all projects are completed in the shortest possible time so that we may roll out water provision to all our residents.”
