ABC Motsepe League side, the SA Spear of the Nation FC, were crowned as the champions of Eastern Cape Stream A, after they defeated Bisho Stars 2-0 at home at the Mount Ayliff sport ground, in eMaxesibeni, over the weekend.

The win ensured that the Spear of the Nation FC were the champions, with 37 points, three games remaining, and no teams with a mathematical chance of catching them.

Bizana Pondo Chiefs and Amavarara FC, who were also hoping to win the league, will not be able to catch up with Nation FC, even if they are able to win all their remaining games.

Pondo Chiefs are in second position, with 27 points, after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Seven Stars over the weekend.

The loss was a huge blow for Chiefs, who were chasing Nation FC and hoping to not drop any valuable points in the remaining games so that they could catch up with the league table leaders. Unfortunately, Seven Stars dented all their hopes to allow Nation FC to cement their top spot.

For the remaining fixtures, most teams will play to finish the season in a better place while those in the bottom like Seven Stars, Bush Bucks, FC Siyanda and Bisho Stars will fight to escape the relegation zone.

This weekend, Bush Bucks will host Amavarara FC; Bizana Pondo Chiefs will entertain FC Siyanda; Highbury will visit Bisho Stars and Stream A new champions will visit Sibiya All Stars FC.

Weekend results:

Seven Stars 2-1 Bizana Pondo Chiefs

Amavarara FC 1-0 FC Siyanda

Highbury FC 3-1 Bush Bucks FC
