SAFA awards first leg win to SA Spear of the Nation

SA Spear of the Nation FC, from Bizana, has a good chance of representing the Eastern Cape in the ABC Motsepe League national promotion play-offs in the coming weeks.

This follows after South African Football Association (SAFA) awarded three points to Spear of the Nation FC for the first leg fixture against BCM Stars, which was stopped in the middle of the match because of a fight between rival supporters.

Earlier this month in Gqeberha, when BCM Stars were hosting Spear of the Nation FC in the first leg fixture, to decide which team would represent the province in the national play-offs, the match had to be abandoned due to the fans’ behaviour.

The supporters threw bottles at each other and the game ended in the second half, with Spear of the Nation FC leading 1-0.

Last week, after SAFA investigated the matter, they decided to award three points to Nation FC because they found BCM Stars guilty in the matter.

This weekend, both teams will return to action when they will compete in the second leg of the deciding game at Mount Ayliff Stadium.

The second-leg hosts made it clear on their Facebook account that they welcomed the three points, and they also aimed at wrapping up the fixture this Saturday afternoon.

They said they are aiming for a win against the BCM Stars, who eliminated them in the same stage last season.

Supporters are not allowed access to the stadium to avoid any situation that can disturb the game again.
