A school bus with 18 learners on board overturned in Mt
Fletcher this morning. Four learners sustained serious injuries.
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Unathi Binqose, said the learners, from Nane Senior Secondary School, were on their way to school when the
driver lost control and the bus overturned.
“The four injured
learners were rushed to hospital while others were treated on the scene for
minor injuries and shock. All stakeholders are on the scene to assist,” said
Binqose.
He said it was unfortunate that an accident of this nature occurred, but the MEC for Transport, Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe, has expressed a word of
gratitude that no learner has died in this accident.
According to Binqose, the MEC also wished those in hospital a speedy and a full recovery.
