Detectives at SAPS Madeira are searching for suspects who robbed a shop in York Street, Mthatha and fatally wounded a security guard yesterday afternoon, 14 August.
Sgt Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe, police spokesperson, said it is alleged that at about 14:00 the suspects confronted the security guard at the entrance and pointed at him with firearms.
“They also demanded his firearm and when he resisted he was shot and killed. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Matola-Mvanyashe said.
The 47-year-old security guard died on the scene.
A case of business robbery and murder is under investigation.
