Growing up in the deep rural areas of Engcobo has inspired Amahle Neti (25), from Ndima location in Ngcobo, to release his brand new debut album, titled Amadikazi, which discusses men who forget to support their families.

He said that it was painful to see children growing without their fathers’ support. He said that his CD was released in 2020.

Neti said he had chosen to sing traditional music because he used to do traditional dances in the ceremonies in his area, and they used to use this kind of music.

“I am using my music to warn people to stop ill-treating other people, to obey each other and to stop abusing one another. I started singing after I realised that our country was dying. Everything has gone sour,” he said.

He said he was also using his music to pass messages to government, thinking that maybe their grievances, as community members, would be heard. – BABALWA NDLANYA
