Janene Moodley, the mother of two sisters killed in an accident in the Northern Cape last weekend, says the family is “devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved Cassidy and Connor.”
The sisters, accompanied by their older sister Storm, were on their way back to Johannesburg when the accident occurred near Victoria West in the Klein Karoo.
They returned from Cape Town after attending their cousin’s graduation, IOL reported.
Family spokesperson and uncle, Lance Poonawassy, said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Storm was initially in critical condition in hospital after the crash. Poonawassy confirmed she remains “bruised and battered,” but is recovering at home.
“By the grace of God, Storm’s condition has stabilised, and she has safely returned home,” Janene said earlier this week.
Outpouring of support
Cassidy and Connor will be laid to rest on Saturday.
“Tomorrow my girls will conclude their journey on this earth,” Janene wrote on Facebook, expressing her “deepest gratitude” for the outpouring of support.
“From the depths of our shattered hearts, my family and I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love and support we’ve received since our nightmare began on Sunday,” she wrote in another post on Friday morning.
“We truly appreciate your presence and support during this incredibly difficult time.”
