Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has called on the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit to expedite the investigation into the killing of six family members in Tsolo on, June 4, and another family member on Monday night, June 3, 2024.
It is alleged that a man (43) was shot and killed outside his grandfather’s homestead in Mpoza location on June 3.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu it is alleged that at about 19:00 on June 4, neighbours heard gunshots at a rondavel in Mpoza location in Tsolo.
“On investigating the bodies of two males aged 73 and 75 were found with bullet wounds.
“Also, at the same time, three more people aged 62 and 67 (male and two females) were shot and killed in a nearby homestead in the same location.
“It is alleged that they were related to the other victims. According to police information, two unknown armed males arrived and shot the victims in the head. The motive for the senseless attacks is under investigation and police are investigating six murder cases. In total six people from the same family were killed,” said Naidu.
Mene is urging anyone who can assist with information relating to the murders to come forward.
“We need the community’s cooperation in helping us bring the perpetrators of these heinous and cruel murders to justice. These senseless acts of violence are purely criminal and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. We will not allow criminal and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. We will not allow criminals to live in fear in our communities,” said Mene.
