According to the police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, the arrest comes after the police followed up on information of the suspects preparing to flee to Cape Town with the illegal firearms.

“They then proceeded to the area and upon arrival at the first house they were granted permission by the house occupant to search the house,” Mawisa said.

She added that during the search a 9mm firearm was recovered and a magazine with eight live ammunition. The suspect failed to produce the firearm’s license.

The acting Amathole District Commissioner, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu commended the members of the TRU for ensuring that firearm used in murders at Willovale are confiscated and crime is prevented.
