A taxi boss and his friend were fatally shot in Ngqamakhwe yesterday, prompting a police manhunt for the suspects.
According to Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, on 27 October at about 14:30, police responded to a complaint of a fatal shooting on the gravel road at Jekezi location, Xilinxa A/A in Ngqamakhwe.
“At the scene, police found a white Double Cab Toyota bakkie with several bullet holes. On the passenger seat, there was a body of a man with gunshot wounds in the upper body.”
He added that the second body was found lying on the gravel road with gunshot wounds, a few metres away from the bakkie. The identities of the deceased persons aged between 37 and 42 are withheld until a formal identification process is concluded.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the two victims were fatally shot by suspects, who were travelling in a white Suzuki SUV,” Nkohli said.
The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the case and no arrests have been made yet.
