AN EDUCATOR from Kwelerane Primary School in Mthatha, Zesipho Ngcobo, is appealing to any Good Samaritan who can assist her learner, Sibulele Magqabi (13), who has a passion for art.

She is teaching technology and natural science in this school and recently discovered how talented Sibulele is.

“Sibulele asked me to give him my photo, promising that he would make a nice drawing of me.

“When he showed me what he did with my picture I was so shocked and happy to see his good work.

“As a teacher you become very excited when you see the talents of your learners,” said Ngcobo.

She said the main problem is that these children are coming from schools that are in the rural areas so it is hard for them to have enough art materials.

She said that is why she had decided to step in and asked people who can assist him with the material to do so, so that he can continue with his work.

“I do not want the money; I only want people who can buy him material like paint, that can help him a lot.”

Magqabi said all his family members are unemployed, so by doing these drawings he is trying to make some money to be able to buy essentials, like a uniform, for himself.

“I used to hide my talent but now I have noticed that I am doing good work so I am able to continue with it while I am still young. When I am old enough, I want to be a doctor.

“For now I am asking people to support my work and those who can afford to buy me the ink that I can use,” said Magqabi.
