Three die in head-on collision in KwaBhaca

Three people died while four others sustained injuries in a head-on collision on the N2 road in KwaBhaca near Dangwana village around 8 am this morning.


Three people died while four others sustained injuries in a head-on collision on the N2 road in KwaBhaca (formerly Mt Frere) near Dangwana village around 8 am this morning, June 2.

Department of Transport provincial spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the accident occurred when a Toyota bakkie with five occupants collided with a VW Polo with two occupants.

The bakkie was traveling towards Qumbu from the KwaBhaca direction.

“Both occupants of the Polo died along with one passenger of the bakkie at the scene. The four injured males from the Toyota LDV, including the driver, were rushed to Madzikane Ka Zulu Memorial Hospital for medical attention,” he said.It is alleged that reckless and negligent driving, Binqose said, on wet roads or unfavorable weather conditions was the main cause of the crash.”A case of culpable homicide has been opened at KwaBhaca police station for further investigation,” he said.
