Thunderbirds Ladies from Butterworth will have an opportunity to increase their points tally in Hollywoodbets Super league, when they visit struggling newcomers, City Lads’ FC in a league encounter, which is scheduled to take place in Gqeberha this weekend.
Coach Thembalethu Apleni side has started the Hollywoodbets Super league season with a positive result when they managed to collect all maximum points in their first two games.
In their first game of the brand new season, they defeated Golden Ladies 2–1 away, and over the weekend at Sisa Dukashe stadium in Mdantsane, they collected another three points when they beat Durban Ladies by 1–0.
This great performance has helped Apleni’s ladies to secure fourth place in Hollywoodbets Super league table with six points, after their two opening games of the season.
Meanwhile City Lads, from Gqeberha, are yet to register even a single point in league summit, after they lost their two opening encounters which they played home and away.
Past weekend, the Gqeberha team suffered a huge defeat when they were beaten 7–3 by TUT Football Club away, and prior to this game, they lost 2–1 against University of the Western Cape (UWC) at home.
These results mean that City Lads will need to work hard to bounce back when they face their rivals, Thunderbirds Ladies, at Gelvandale stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams had electrifying clashes when they faced each other during their days in the Sasol league when their rivalry started and even this weekend supporters can expect some fireworks in the encounter.
