Thunderbirds Ladies from Butterworth have bounced upwards in the Hollywoodbets Super league with a big score line win over the weekend, while their neighbours, City Lads FC from Gqeberha, are still struggling to find their feet in the division.

Since last month, Coach Thembalethu Apleni’s team, Thunderbirds Ladies, were struggling to collect maximum points in home and away fixtures, as they lost three successive league encounters.

Among those league fixtures, Apleni’s team were beaten by Bloemfontein Celtic FC 5-2 at home; then in the following encounter they lost 5-1 against Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ FC and in a third straight defeat it was against JVW FC where they suffered a 2-1 defeat away.

But, over the weekend the Butterworth team bounced back stronger when they demolished Vasco da Gama 6-1 in Sisa Dukashe Stadium at Mdantsane.

This win has helped Apleni’s troops to improve their league table standings from ninth position to seventh place with 19 points.

The points difference between them and league table toppers, Mamelodi Sundowns, is eight points currently.

On the other side their neighbours, City Lads FC, are blowing hot and cold in the Hollywoodbets Super league division.

Last Wednesday, Coach Terry Mrwerwe’s team, City Lads FC, managed to register their first ever victory in the division when they beat the bottom side Tsunami Queens FC by 1-0 at home.

The win has helped the Gqeberha team to improve in their league table standings from bottom position number 16 to fourth place with five points after 10 games.

But, over the weekend, Mrwerwe’s team failed to build on top of their recent win when they lost 5-0 against Richmond United away and the result made them remain in the fourth position with the same number of points.
