After four weeks without action, Thunderbirds Ladies has returned to training field to prepare their Hollywoodbets Super League away game against mid table side, Ma-Indies Ladies this weekend.

The last time the Butterworth- based Thunderbirds Ladies played a league encounter, it was when they punished Richmond United at home (Sisa Dukashe stadium) 3-1.

The match took place after the South African Football Association (SAFA) suspended league games because of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and the high numbers of infections.

That win was their third successive victory, showing that they were on top form before the association suspended matches.

Thunderbirds Ladies were undefeated in their last five games before the league stopped, with three wins and two draws. Those results helped the team to improved their log standings from 11th to seventh, with 14 points

Over the weekend, the league fixtures resumed, after lockdown rules and regulations were eased recently.

But the Butterworth-based team was not in action, as their fixture was scheduled for this Sunday afternoon against Limpopo outfit Ma-Indies Ladies away and the encounter is expected to be tough, as their opponents would be looking to use their home advantage.

Meanwhile, coach Thembalethu Apleni’s ladies will look forward to picking up from where they left before the fixtures were stopped by SAFA.

Apleni’s chargers will be hoping to register their fourth consecutive victory, for the first time this season, so that they can improve their log standing.

Ma-Indies Ladies will want to avoid dropping more points at home after they played to a 1-1 draw against UWC at the weekend.

Currently Ma-Indies Ladies occupy eighth place in the league with 13 points after 11 games.
