IT looks as if Thunderbirds Ladies’ FC is starting to find its feet in Hollywood bets Super League.
Over the weekend, Thunderbirds Ladies managed to keep a clean sheet when they played to a 0-0 draw against mid-table side, Coal City Wizards, at Sisa Dukashe Stadium. It was the second time coach Thembalethu Apleni’s ladies managed to keep a clean sheet this season.
Their first clean sheet was against Durban Ladies’ FC in the opening fixture when they won 2-0 at home (Sisa Dukashe Stadium)
After that, they conceded goals in six consecutive games until they played a goalless draw over the weekend. In their recent game against First Touch FC, where they drew 1-1, coach Apleni had stressed their intentions to fix or correct their mistakes in defence and also score goals, going forward.
But for now it looks as if the defence department is improving and they will need to sharpen the strikers so that they can convert chances they create during matches.
This weekend, Thunderbirds Ladies will continue their journey of looking to register their second victory of the season, when they visit when they visit mid-table side, University of Johannesburg FC on Saturday afternoon.
Currently, University of JHB FC has eight points after eight games while Thunderbirds Ladies is rooted in 13th position, with five points.
