THUNDERBIRD Ladies’ forward, Philisa Mjambane, has collected another player of the match award after her side defeated University of Johannesburg FC away 1-0 in a Hollywoodbets League clash over the weekend.

This win has helped Thunderbirds Ladies to end their seven match drought, as they had been struggling to collect maximum points both home and away.

Striker Mjambane received her second player of the match award this season, after she displayed good football skills, working hard with her teammates to register their second win of the campaign. Earlier this month, Mjambane won her first player of the match accolade when they played to a 1-1 draw against the top side, First Touch FC.

After the weekend game, Mjambe told the media she was delighted about the accolade and she thanked her teammates who had worked hard to make sure they got maximum points away from home.

“We are happy about the match results and thanks to my teammates who played well,” said Mjambane.

Her coach, Thembalethu Apleni, was happy to see his side bounce back from seven matches without a win and he applauded his side for keeping a second successive clean sheet.

The weekend win has seen the Butterworth outfit improve their Hollywoodbets Super League standings from 13th position to 10th spot, with eight points after nine games this season.

In their next encounter, they will host Tsunami Queens FC at Sisa Dukashe Stadium this Saturday afternoon, where they will aim at collecting maximum points again. – ANELE RAZIYA
