The spokesperson for King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality, Sonwabo Mampoza, described the death of traffic officer Mnikelo Mjulwa (40), who was serving in this municipality, as the great loss.

Mjulwa was found dead in his homestead at Mpindweni in Mthatha on September 18. He will be laid to rest in his home at Ntshilini locality in Ngqeleni this Saturday, September 30.

Mampoza confirmed that Mjulwa started working for this municipality in October 2019, and he was attached to Traffic Services in Public Safety and Traffic Management as a traffic officer in this municipality.

“It is not the first time this municipality loses an employee, and it is a loss because everyone means a lot to us,” said Mampoza.

He sent his heartfelt condolences to the Mjulwa family and friends, hoping they will find solace in God during this trying time in their lives. It is alleged that he was found dead with his girlfriend, Abongile Ndaleni (30). Ndaleni was working at Old Mutual, also in Mthatha.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, confirmed that police were investigating an inquest docket after two bodies were found at Mpindweni locality in Mthatha.

“It is alleged that when the deceased failed to report for work, a colleague went to his homestead and found the two dead. The house was locked,” said Naidu.

She said that the cause of death is unknown and a postmortem will be done to determine such.
