Two schools targeted by thieves just as schools reopen

schools in Butterworth and Centane, yesterday, 26 July.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, this followed after
the reopening of schools nationwide, when the teachers alerted police
about burglary and theft that occurred at these two schools.

“It is
alleged that the doors were forced open and laptops, electrical
appliances and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen,” said Mawisa. 

Amathole Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier
Ngangema Xakavu, condemned such activities as this demotivates learners at
schools.

He said they would ensure that those who are responsible will be put behind
bars.
