Police Minister Bheki Cele says police are on ‘solid ground’ in solving the murder case of former OR Tambo District Municipality employee, Namhla Sanga Mtwa.

He was speaking to the media after visiting the Mtwa family in Sidwadwa View outside Mthatha earlier today.

He was visiting the family to convey his condolences to the bereaved Mtwa family.

Mtwa was shot and killed inside her car by an unknown suspect while she was arriving at home.

The 35-year-old Mtwa died after being shot nine times in her driveway outside her house last month.

Cele was accompanied by National Police Commissioner, General Fanie Masemola and provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene.

Masemola, when asked about allegations of poor police service in Mthatha police stations, said they were in the process of beefing up police numbers in the Mthatha area.
