Police have confirmed that a case of arson is
under investigation after the double story Old Grosvenor Hotel in Mthatha was
gutted on Wednesday evening, 28 July.
The hotel sits on the corners of Madeira and Sutherland Streets in Mthatha’s CBD.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said the
circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage.
“However, no
injuries nor fatalities were reported. Shops and other businesses attached to
the building, including the accommodation, are reportedly affected,” said Kinana.
