Members of Provincial Men for Change hosted a march in the streets of Mthatha and later hosted a dialogue on Gender Based Violence (GBV) at Mthatha Town Hall yesterday, August 28.
According to the District Commissioner from the O.R Tambo District, Major General Pumzile Cetyana the members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) together with the Provincial Men for Change decided to march in the streets of Mthatha, appealing to men to stop Gender Based Violence (GBV).
“Our aim is to appeal to men to stop GBV and to ensure that they are taking responsibilities as men besides the march we also hosted a men’s dialogue, where we discussed three topics with the aim of getting a solution to this problem that women and children are facing. The topics that we were talking about is role and responsibility of men in the society, The perspective of being a parent and raising a child, the danger of ignoring a boychild and the nature of GBV and Femicide related cases,” said Cetyana.
