THE members for Qina Mfelokazi Widow’s Development non-profit organisation, in the OR Tambo District Municipality, will be hosting a widows’ gala dinner, at St John’s parish hall in Mthatha, on June 18.
It will be hosted with the aim of raising funds for widows’ children, who are unable to receive funding for university.
According to the chairperson of this organisation, Bishop Nomaphelo Nodwengu-Myathaza, they decided to host this gala dinner after they noticed that there were children who were sitting at home due to the lack of funds.
She ensured that this trust fund would support the children of widows.
“We understand that the funds that would be collected here could not be enough, at least even if we managed to pay for their registrations, it would be better, then we would try other plans when they have registered,” said Nodwengu-Myathaza.
She added that the organisation has an economic desk, which looks at preparing widows for different categories of employment. She said they were also ploughing and doing bead work, with the aim of uplifting each other.
Nodwengu-Myathaza said that they were inviting everyone, including church ministers and business owners, to this gala dinner. The tickets are available at R200 per ticket. For more information contact the secretary of this organisation, Dolly Cembi, at 083 559 4902.
