The founder and the bishop of Zion Evangelical Movement Church of South Africa (ZEMCSA) in Libode, Patrick Maqungqulu, brought light to the life of a woman (48), who used to sleep on an empty stomach, by donating food parcels to her, last week.

According to Maqungqulu, after he heard about Jantjies’ situation, he asked people to help him to assist him to buy food parcels for her.

“She is living in a bad condition because she does not have her own place. Luckily, now, she has received a site here, but still she does not have powers to build it so she would need more help,” said Maqqungqulu.

He added that it was painful to know that there were still people who went to bed on empty stomachs. Maqungqulu added that at least Jantjies would now manage to take her medication so that she could live longer.

Jantjies said she used to do piece jobs and worked as a domestic worker but her life changed after she was diagnosed with arthritis.

“Now I am sitting at home doing nothing. Sometimes I used to sleep on an empty stomach because I was afraid to bother my neighbours all the time. This was a relief because now I will manage to take my medication,” said Jantjies.
