UCR FM field reporter: ‘Women are the backbones’

While the country celebrated Women’s Day on Monday, 9 August field reporter from Unitra Community Radio (UCR FM) in Mthatha, Pindile Mabongo, urged men to respect women because they are the backbones of their homes.

Mabongo, from Matyeba location in Tsolo, said women were the ones who looked after children and who made sure that everything was in order in their homes.

He started his career as a field reporter in July 2017.

“I chose to do this work because I like to see people developing in different directions and also speaking for themselves on the radio. I was very happy when the management from UCR FM granted me this opportunity,” said Mabongo.

“It was always my dream to be a radio presenter.”

Talking to youth, he said life is like a relay, so young people should know that they are the new generation who would lead this country one day.

“They must not take things for granted because one day they would grow up and want to bring back the time they have wasted. Young people should have an input in this country so that they voice out the challenges they are facing.”
